Buildings Dept sets up hotline

The Buildings Department announced today that a telephone hotline 3842 5375 has been set up for the public to make enquiries about alteration and addition works that have possibly been carried out in their residential flats.   It explained that the hotline was set up in response to many public enquiries it recently received on how to check approved plans to ascertain the location of structural walls.   The department also received enquiries on whether the building structure or safety would have been affected due to the alteration and addition works carried out in their residential flats.   People may call the hotline between 9am and 5pm from Monday to Friday, except public holidays. The hotline will remain in operation until July 21 and may be extended on an as-needed basis.   Enquiries can also be emailed to enquiry@bd.gov.hk.   Additionally, people may visit the Building Information Centre on the second floor of the Buildings Department Headquarters, North Tower, West Kowloon Government Offices, 11 Hoi Ting Road, Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon to ascertain how to obtain building plans and basic information on the plans, including how to distinguish between structural and non-structural walls.   The visit should be made during office hours and by appointment through the aforesaid hotline/email.
