Education chief to visit Guangdong

Secretary for Education Choi Yuk-lin will depart on Wednesday for Dongguan, Guangzhou and Shenzhen to learn about the development of education there and the study life of Hong Kong students in the Mainland, the Education Bureau announced today.   She will meet representatives from the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and students studying in Mainland higher education institutions. She will also call on schools for Hong Kong children and the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology (Guangzhou).   On Thursday and Friday, she will lead a delegation to visit the citizenship and social development study tour destinations in Guangzhou and Shenzhen to prepare for the study tours to be launched next month.   Members of the delegation include Permanent Secretary for Education Michelle Li, Deputy Secretary for Education Teresa Chan and more than 20 representatives from the education sector.   Ms Choi will return to Hong Kong on Friday evening. During her absence, Under Secretary for Education Sze Chun-fai will be Acting Secretary for Education.
